About Auctions of Japanese Fine Art, Porcelains, Table Objects

Japanese fine art covers a wide of objects influenced by a wide range of periods from ancient time to modern-day. Objects can be found made in ceramics including both porcelain and stonewares produced in dozens of regions throughout the country.  Including fine porcelains produced in the Arita provinces, Seto to the island of Hirado. Unlike China, Japan only learned to make porcelain in the late 1500s with production not getting under full way until the mid 1600s. Thus the ages of porcelain made in Japan is much more limited to only the last 400 or so years, examples made during the 1600's are among the rarest.

Other objects including religious art can encompass sculptures, paintings, incense burners and ritualistic accoutrements. Weapons, suits of armour, netsuke, okimono, paintings and woodblock prints also contribute to the wide repertoire of Japanese artisans.
